Abstract
Purpose
The objective of the study is to explain how health orientation influences attitude towards paying attention to nutrition claims (NCs), intention to pay attention to NCs, and willingness to buy products containing NCs.
Design/methodology/approach
In the first study, conducted amongst 770 respondents using the CAWI (Computer-Assisted Web Interview) method, the authors investigated the role of health orientation in explaining intention to pay attention to NCs and willingness to buy products with NCs. The theory of planned behaviour was used as the main theoretical framework. In the second online experiment, carried out amongst 485 respondents, the impact of health orientation on attitude towards the label containing NC and on NC product purchase intention was studied.
Findings
The authors revealed that health orientation plays a significant (direct and indirect) role in explaining attitude towards paying attention to NCs, and intention to pay attention to NCs, as well as NC product purchase intention.
Originality/value
Health orientation appeared to be an important determinant of selecting products with NCs. Consumers' intent to choose products containing claims is mainly determined according to their attitudes driven by health orientation and outcome expectancy. Consequently, intention to pay attention to NCs is strongly related to intention to buy products containing claims.

Abstract
Purpose
Magnetization is one of the most important parameters of magnetic fluids. The shape of the magnetization curve often determines the application of a fluid in a device. On the basis of the magnetization curve, it is also possible to estimate, for example, the distribution and size of the particles in a magnetic fluid carrier fluid. The aim of this paper is to present a new approach for estimating the magnetization curve.
Design/methodology/approach
The proposed method is an iterative method based on the measurement of magnetic induction on a test stand. To determine the magnetization curve, a numerical simulation of the magnetic field distributions for the preliminary magnetization curve should also be performed. Numerical simulations for modified forms of the magnetization curve are performed until the difference between the results obtained by the measurement and numerical simulation are the smallest.
Findings
This paper presents the results of magnetization curve research for ferrofluids and magnetorheological fluids.
Originality/value
The discussed method shows the possibilities of using numerical simulations of magnetic field distribution to determine the magnetic properties of magnetic fluids. This method may be an alternative for estimating the magnetization curve of the magnetic fluid compared to other methods.

Abstract
Purpose
The main purpose of the study was mechanical designing, simulation and manufacturing process for a new model of octocopter V-frame and to achieve simple manufacturing with 3D printing technology. Moreover, the octocopter PID controller was simulated on the Simulink environment to get performance on the roll and pitch angle control.
Design/methodology/approach
Octocopter is one kind of multirotor vehicle (a rotorcraft with more than two rotors), that has lately gained a lot of attention for both the scientific and commercial spheres. With a greater number of rotors, the multirotor is very maneuverable and robust. Multi-copter makes an important contribution to the technological revolution in the military, industry, transportation, mapping and especially agriculture. Nowadays, we are heading to the four-industrial revolutions as well as the new technological application in the agricultural field such as precision agriculture, mapping and surveillance. Due to recently advanced technology about sensors, electronics, 3D printing, battery with high performance, multi-copter can be manufactured at low cost.
Findings
The V-frame octocopter was chosen to design in this paper; it had better performance scores including high redundancy rotors, high payload capability and affordable cost than another multi-copter family. The V-frame octocopter increasing freedom field of view of the camera was considered to place the camera position in the front of the drone.
Research limitations/implications
For the future aspects, the mechanical structure of the octocopter could be improved by using more advanced metal 3D printing to produce the aluminum or titan alloy materials for lighter and more rigid compared with ABS material, and finally the assembly to the real test.
Originality/value
The study shows the new platform of the V-frame octocopter kinematics analysis, designed on the CAD software, with some important mechanical parts using FEM analysis to find the highest stress and displacement under high load applied, the result of all connecting the joints 3D printing part is completely safe. Mechanical parts were manufactured by using 3D printing technology and CNC milling. Moreover, the study has shown V-frame octocopter simulation based on Simulink using the second method Ziegler- Nichols to find suitable parameters of the PID controller for roll and pitch angle. Using the block simulation is good for implementing and fast checking the new algorithm when building the new platform of the robot.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to present an accurate and efficient hybrid method for the calculation of the inductance of a coil and its inductance change due to deformed turns using numerical methods.
Design/methodology/approach
The paper opted for finite element method coupled with analytical method (FCA) to accurately calculate the inductance of a coil, which is used as reference value. An algorithm with a power function is presented to approximate the partial inductance matrix with the purpose of obtaining the percentage change of the inductance due to deformed turns by using the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) with an approximated model and an optimization process. The presented method is successfully validated by the numerical results.
Findings
The paper provides a systematic investigation of the inductance of an arbitrary shaped coil and shows how to accurately and efficiently evaluate the inductance change of a coil due to its deformed turns. It suggests that the inductance of a coil can be accurately calculated by using FCA and its percentage change due to deformed turns can be efficiently calculated by using the PEEC_Approximation.
Research limitations/implications
As this research is for the magnetostatics, the skin- and proximity-effects have not been taken into account.
Practical implications
The paper includes implication for the worst-case analysis of the coil’s inductance due to mechanical damage or manufacturing tolerance.
Originality/value
This paper fulfills an identified need to study how the inductance change of a coil can be obtained accurately and efficiently.

Abstract
In this research a group of Iranian entrepreneurs was studied using survey questionnaires as well as interviews. The entrepreneurs' locus of control and their perceptions regarding major problems facing them were examined. The results indicated that our sample overall had internal locus of control. The significance of this finding in the context of a religiously dominated culture is discussed. The entrepreneurs also indicated the lack of market information and government role as major hurdles facing entrepreneurial activities.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to analyze factors that determine the demand for single family houses in Alabama urbanized areas, commonly referred to as metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs).
Design/methodology/approach
This paper builds and estimates a housing demand model that incorporates both macroeconomic and housing‐related variables using a panel time series data for 1988‐2007. The study is different from past research, which mainly focuses on housing demand at the state or national level, by looking at the factors influencing demand for housing at the MSAs level.
Findings
The study finds that demand for new single family houses in Alabama MSAs is influenced by both national economic factors and local factors. Population growth and increased sale of existing houses increase demand for new single family houses in the MSAs. On the contrary, increased cost of building a new house, higher real mortgage interest rates and unemployment rates are found to reduce the demand for new houses.
Originality/value
This study is one of the few studies that focus on housing demand at the local level, particularly in the US housing market. Since demand for housing will always be local and therefore influenced mostly by local conditions, the result reveal unique dynamics that are specific to the MSAs.

Abstract
Purpose
To improve sensorless control of induction motor using Kalman filtering family, this paper aims to introduce a new metaheuristic optimizer algorithm for online rotor speed and flux estimation.
Design/methodology/approach
The main problem with unscented Kalman filter (UKF) observer is its sensibility to the initial values of Q and R. To solve the optimal solution of these matrices, a novel alternative called ant lion optimization (ALO)-UKF is introduced. It is based on the combination of the classical UKF observer and a nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm, ALO.
Findings
Synthesized ALO-UKF has given good results over the famous extended Kalman filter and the classical UKF observer in terms of accuracy and dynamic performance. A comparison between ALO and particle swarm optimization (PSO) was established. Simulations illustrate that ALO recovers rapidly and accurately while PSO has a slower convergence.
Originality/value
Using the proposed approach, tuning the design matrices Q and R in Kalman filtering becomes an easy task with a high degree of accuracy and the constraints of time cost are surmounted. Also, ALO-UKF is an efficient tool to improve estimation performance of states and parameters’ uncertainties of the induction motor. Related optimization technique can be extended to faults monitoring by online identification of their corresponding signatures.

Abstract
Purpose
Motor-vehicle-related events (MVEs) are the leading cause of on-duty death for law enforcement officers, yet little is known about how officers view this significant job hazard. The purpose of this paper is to explore officers’ motor-vehicle risk perception and examine how prior on-duty MVEs and the death or injury of a fellow officer influences this perception.
Design/methodology/approach
A state-wide random sample of 136 law enforcement agencies was drawn using publically accessible databases, stratified on type and size of agency. In total, 60 agencies agreed to participate and a cross-sectional questionnaire was distributed to 1,466 officers. Using six-point Likert scales, composite scores for motor-vehicle and intentional violence risk perception were derived. A linear regression multivariable model was used to examine factors affecting motor-vehicle risk perception.
Findings
Motor-vehicle risk perception scores were significantly higher than intentional violence scores. A prior on-duty motor-vehicle crash, prior roadside incident, or knowledge of fellow officer’s injury or death from a MVE significantly increased motor-vehicle risk perception scores. After controlling for potential confounders though, only prior on-duty crashes and roadside incidents impacted motor-vehicle risk perception.
Research limitations/implications
The study comprised primarily small, rural agencies and generalizability may be limited. Also, although the data were collected anonymously, reporting and response biases may affect these findings.
Originality/value
This study involved a large and diverse cohort of officers and explored motor-vehicle risk perception. A better understanding of officers’ risk perceptions will assist in the development and implementation of occupational injury prevention programs, training, and policy.

Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the tribological properties, antiwear mechanism and anticorrosion properties of two novel halogen-free borate ionic liquids (ILs) in 500 N base oil.
Design/methodology/approach
Different qualities of borate ILs were added to 500 N, and their tribological properties were tested on a four-ball machine. The tribological properties of the additives were evaluated by measuring the wear scar diameter (WSD) and average coefficient of friction. The antiwear and antifriction mechanism of ILs was analyzed by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
Findings
The corrosion degrees of the two borate ILs 1-butyl-3-octyl-imidazole bis(mandelato)-borate ([OBIM][BMB]) and 1-butyl-3-(3-methoxypropyl)-imidazole bis(mandelato)-borate ([MPBIM][BMB]) are 1b and 1a, respectively, suggesting that they both possess significant corrosion resistance and can effectively protect the steel surface. When the concentration of [OBIM][BMB] and [MPBIM][BMB] is 2.5 Wt.%, the friction coefficient of 500 N is reduced by 37.3% and 26.2%, respectively. According to the analysis of the thermo gravimetric analyzer curves, [OBIM][BMB] and [MPBIM][BMB] decomposed at 369.7°C and 374.3°C, respectively, indicate that two additives both can be applied in higher temperature condition. The results of XPS and scanning electron microscope (SEM) reveal that [OBIM][BMB] and [MPBIM][BMB] both can react with the steel surface, thereby forming chemical films composed of iron oxide, B2O3 and organic N-containing compounds.
Originality/value
Two new environmentally friendly borate ILs were synthesized and their tribological properties in 500 N base oil were investigated for the first time.
